Since 1983, the New Zealand Division of the Royal Aeronautical Society has run an annual symposium in conjunction with the Division’s Annual General Meeting. The Symposium are usually a one or two day event framed around topical aviation industry themes and include the Aeronautical Society AGM and Dinner for members and their guests. Aviation awards provided by the New Zealand Aeronautical Trusts on an annual basis are presented at the dinner to outstanding contributors to New Zealand Aviation.
Being the 100 year anniversary of the Walsh Brother's first flight, the Division's 2011 AGM, Symposium and Awards Dinner have been separated into separate events with the AGM held in April. The Society's 28th Annual Symposium is being held on 28 October 2011 at the St James Hotel in Wellington and the Awards will be presented at a special celebratory dinner during November in Auckland, details will be provided once finalised.
