NEXT LECTURE:  TUESDAY  28 MARCH 2017

VENUE:  AS USUAL

TIME:  7:00 PM

SPEAKER:  Don Simms ?

SUBJECT:  SKYHAWKS

Don spent 18 years in the RNZAF as an Avionics Technician (1984-2001). He "Retired" as a

Flight Sergeant after being made redundant ("DJ2'ed") when Helen Clark's Labour

Government disbanded the RNZAF Air Combat Force in December 2001. He had spent most

of his RNZAF career working on or around the Skyhawks at Ohakea and Nowra, including

postings on Nos 2 and 75 Sqns.

He is also a member of the US Based Skyhawk Association, a member of the Christchurch

branch of the RAeS and is a Volunteer Guide at the Air Force Museum at Wigram.

Don has a massive collection of Skyhawk photographs some of which he will be sharing with

us in this nostalgic (for some of us) presentation.

BLENHEIM BRANCH, RAeS - JULY MEETING - Wed 16 JUL 2014

Where – Aviation Heritage Centre, Aerodrome Rd., Omaka

When - 7 PM: - Heather Deacon, General Manager Development at Safe Air

Bruce Astridge's presentation last month on the high bypass triple spool turbofan RB211 was fascinating, particularly so, since Bruce was so involved in taking Rolls Royce from a significant player to a global leader. A great evening!

This month we have another presentation of national and local significance; Heather Deacon, General Manager Development at Safe Air, will take us through the $154 million New Zealand Defence Force Pilot Training Capability programme and the part her company will play in it as a contractor to Beechcraft Defense Company LLC of Wichita, Kansas, USA.
