MONTHLY BRANCH MEETING - 2016

DATE:  Wed 27 January 2016

TIME: 6:45pm

VENUE: BECA HOUSE,  21 Pitt St, AUCKLAND 1010

Happy New Year Everyone,

Our first meeting for the year is scheduled as above.

The presenter will be Ben MacLaren, a systems engineer currently working with the Beca Team for the RNZAF. Ben has worked with Beca since 2011 and recently graduated from his Mechatronics Engineering degree (with first class honours) from the  University of Auckland.

Ben and his team,'VorTech' recently won the 2015 Callaghan Innovation C-Prize which aims to advance the commercialisation of innovative technology . The 2015 competition was centred on the next generation UAV technology for the screen industry. By participating in this challenge, contestants  were given the opportunity to have their innovation reviewed  and recognised  by a panel of screen industry professionals, prominent investors and entrepreneurs

I have recently been advised that a number of our previous members have become aware of our efforts to rejuvenate the Auckland  Branch of the Society. To this end it becomes increasingly important that contact is re-established with the prior membership. Rebuilding the e-mail address list will obviously be a priority for the New Year. Those of you who know of such people are strongly encouraged to seek out the necessary contact details, and where possible… get them to me or one of the other members of "Working Group" in order that we might include them for future mail-outs.

Many of you will be aware that work is progressing on the pending tour by the RAeS President Elect Air Chief Marshal  Sir Stephen Dalton -  RAF Rtd, of this country sometime in March/April of this year.  Needless to say his itinerary is going to be extremely tight, but it is hoped that he will be able to visit Auckland during what will no doubt be a fairly short stay. Further information will be made available as it comes to hand.

Hope to see you all on the 27th…

Regards

Bryan Franklin
